Connected Agendas: Integrated thinking and smarter solutions for public service delivery

Broadway House, London, 25 April 2016

I presented and joined the panel at this Whitehall seminar, led and hosted by Cardiff Council and chaired by Kamlesh Patel, Lord Patel of Bradford OBE. The audience was public sector leaders responsible for implementing strategic change in service delivery, and the day examined some of the most ambitious headline examples of delivery in the public sector: the Internet of Things, realising an integrated estate, and the use of digital technology in DWP’s 2020 Vision programme.

The organisers framed the next two years as a stress test for the national and local blueprints for 21st century government: One Public Estate’s ambition of a single government workplace, and the Government Digital Service’s plans to overhaul how public services are delivered.

I spoke about the work underway at DWP and its broader implications for improving public service delivery through digital. The other keynote speakers were:

  • Bruce Mann, Executive Director, Government Property Unit
  • Scott Cain, Chief Business Officer, Future Cities Catapult
  • Tim Banfield, Executive Director, Major Projects Authority
